Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that recognises the learners formal or informal training whether that is by education, work experience or general life experience regardless of how or where the learning occurred.

In order to approve a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) application, you must be confident that you can demonstrate to All Automotive Training Services your ability to be competent against the competency performance criteria as specified within the Industry Training Package for the competencies you wish to apply for.
The portfolio of evidence may include certified copies of certificates, references and/or testimonials from past employers and copies of work and job card records in your current employment.

We require this collection of evidence to ensure that it is valid, sufficient, authentic and current.

This simply means the evidence is;

  • Valid – Does the information I am collecting meet the requirements of the unit of competency?
  • Sufficient – Does the information I am collecting cover the performance criteria that is specified in the unit of competency? Does the evidence prove that you have the ability and competency to perform the tasks over a period of time?
  • Authentic – Does the evidence you are providing belong to you and can be authenticated by organisations and/or persons known to you.
  • Current – Although you may say you can do a task. Can you demonstrate your ability to complete this task in your current workplace using current technologies?

All Automotive Training Services adheres to the principles of assessment to ensure that your assessment is fair, flexible, valid and reliable.

You can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) by filling out the application contained in the Student Information Package.

Please submit this application prior to enrolment for evaluation.
